My Favorite Ornaments

So, it's been months since I've posted photos, and these particular ones are way overdue. But I guess it's better late than never! Every year, my mom gives each of us an ornament as a present. So here are a few of my favorite ornaments from my family's Christmas tree at home!
I don't really have a reason the candy cane is one of my favorites, except that it's cute, and I remember it being around for forever.
A family friend made this for us a few years back, and I just really like it.

This was one of my very own first ornaments--Noah's Ark.

My mom had these made for my sister and I when we were both cheerleaders. They are our high school colors, and even the right color hair for each of us!

My "Aunt" Jane, who is really my mom's best friend, made this for our family in 2007. Penguins are kind of my obsession, so obviously I would love this ornament for our family!
This is another one that my sister and I both have on of our own. This one is my angel, and she has blonde hair, and my sister's again has brown hair. (Her wings are actually feathers, and that's my favorite part!)
This is my favorite picture of my sister and I! She is about a year old, and I would be around 4 years old. Megan was such a chunker, but so dang cute!

Penguins are my favorite, ever. And this is my favorite penguin ornament. (I have many others...)

Photo Illustration

So for this assignment, we just had to use Adobe Photoshop to edit our photos. We were basically given free reign as to what particularly, so I chose to just teach myself how to do different crazy effects. I used a silly "photoshoot" of my sister Megan and I, and played with color, saturation, light, and tone, and then whatever distortions I thought were fun. I had a good time learning these crazy things, and these pictures look crazy now too!

Issue in Black and White

I thought making the pictures black and white made it look even more interesting. To me, it gives it an even more deserted look. (I really like them this way...)

Neighborhood Issues

West King has been under construction for months, and subsequently converted to a one-way street allowing traffic only west-bound. Some of the businesses and restaurants are suffering because of this construction. The area is basically deserted, and there are currently three properties up for rent. Desi Pappas and I went together to take these photos, and she has great pictures too, which can be found on her blog, In Real Life...

(*Professor Eaton: we know you told us to make sure there are subjects in the photos, but that IS our issue at hand--this area is being neglected by the residents and there are no people at the shops and cafe's in this portion of West King.*)

Photoshop Fun

I edited these photos on my home computer, just playing more with Photoshop. I am also tyring out more new things, and they're on the way, to be posted later!

The Green Monster

So I went to the Stage Makeup class at Flagler to photograph my friend, Meredith Rhein, who is double majoring in Communicaion and Theater. For this class, they had to do a gross exhageration of a facial feature, based on a character of their choosing.
Meredith did the Wicked Witch...Then, after they're done applying it, the makeup is latex-based (and basically feels like a rubber glove), and it is just peeled off!
